I have a question for you.

What does Wrench do? What is our product?

I suspect most of you, and most of our customers, would say: EDMS.

That is frustrating.

Yes, EDMS has been our best-seller for many years. However, it may surprise you to know that EDMS wasn’t the first product we created or even sold. We started with a bigger and more comprehensive product, closer to our PMIS of today, but had to pull back after realizing that the market just wasn’t ready. Long story short, EDMS was a more comfortable positioning for our market—advanced enough to be desirable yet familiar enough to be acceptable in a super-conservative industry. It offered positive change without too much disruption. And so, that’s where we stayed for many years. As the market matured and we earned their trust, customers began to see the value beyond EDMS and started upgrading to integrated project monitoring and control (PMIS). In recent years, a few customers have even started out with PMIS right away.

But still—we are known for EDMS.

I would like to change that. Because this is not just about sales and profits—if that were the case, we would just sell more EDMS. No, it’s about our larger mission: #ZeroToleranceToDelay.

Look around; projects continue to be delayed, development continues to stall, and millions of dollars (and even human lives) continue to be lost—all because problems are detected late, interdependencies are poorly managed, and risks/quality/safety are inadequately enforced. Only Wrench offers all the features a project company needs to solve these problems.

For example, we know delays actually start during planning with unrealistic milestones and weak monitoring protocols. We know progress is tracked infrequently, and that means delays are detected late. We know root causes are not identified, and that means problems persist far longer than they should. We know all this and more. And we built solutions for all this into our product. Our product even compensates for external and operational factors, allowing customers to proactively mitigate risks before they turn into problems.

So no, and we don’t sell an EDMS. We sell a solution to the problem of project delay. #ZeroToleranceToDelay is not just a hashtag, and it’s our mission, and our promise to the market.

Let’s embrace that with pride. Let’s stop saying we sell an EDMS. Let’s change the perception of what we do and what our product is, both internally and externally.

In short, let’s upgrade!
