First of all: a very joyous and prosperous New Year to all of you!

There’s a saying: “He who has a ‘why’ can bear almost any ‘how’.” In other words, we need a purpose, a ‘why’ – and then you won’t notice how many hours you put in or what hardships and obstacles you face, you’ll somehow just get it done, and it will be an exhilerating, satisfying ride. So this year it’s my wish and prayer that each Wrenchineer finds their ‘why’, their purpose. May this be the year you find a dream, and make it come true!

Speaking of dreams, we closed 2025 with a bang. As I said in my Christmas message, we launched the Wrench Foundation, which is part of my vision to help people thrive in a fast-changing world, via future-oriented technologies and initiatives.

I wanted to do this because these are challenging times; we’re surrounded by concerns on almost every front – from mental health to financial livelihood to climate change – the list is endless. Climate change and its related issues are one of the common threads we at Wrench can tackle in a meaningful way, so that is my focus. Those of you who have been with us for some time will remember programmes aligned with this, including GYOF and Vertigrove (which has customers in over 20 cities across India and won acclaim from IIM Kozhikode), the Lake House, a climate resilient house and integrated farming system, a fish production and sales program called ‘Primefish’ – all these are fully sustainable and climate-resilient and use innovations we created and tested ourselves – and now are all being consolidated under one umbrella, the Wrench Foundation, which is an independent company which can expand globally over time.

And for that reason we aligned our goals to the United Nations sustainable development program, and hope to work with other entrepreneurs or environmentalists with similar views.

As a start, The Wrench Foundation will:

• Encourage people to grow fish and vegetables in their back yard, and so earn money by selling their produce every year.

• Teach high school students about sustainable and climate-resilient farming and motivate them to take up farming as a career after graduation.

• Develop new technologies to address the need of water and housing shortages in our country in a sustainable way.

• Collaborate with companies and individuals who are keen to develop technology that help address basic needs like food, water, and shelter. To sum up, my dream is that the Wrench Foundation becomes a place that offers support and hope to everyday people in a tangible, practical way. Let’s come together to make this happen in 2026. And once again, a very happy New Year – I can’t wait to see what it holds.
